What does the Lilac festival mean? This was the burning question on the mind of the Zach, an Ukranian newcomer in Calgary, Canada as he got asked repeatedly if he was attending this year’s $th Street Lilac Festival.

What does Lilac Festival mean?

So we asked a few born and  bred Calgarians to tell us. below is the feedback and the one and true answer to what Lilac Festival stands for

Leila (15 year Downtown resident)

I have been attending the festival since I was a kid, except for Covid. It is all about the good food. Lilac is just food

Lilac Festival is about coming out to hug peopleafter being indoors for 15months of winter. It is the best thing, with the hugs, the food and the street performances.
